This sort of picture is usually a bit of a gamble - you can't usually look through the viewfinder (partly because the angle is too low, partly because you'd get run over), so it's a case of guessing. Surprisingly they seem to come out more often than not (a fairly wide angle lens helps), but this is the best I've managed.

The summit of Grand Som in the Chartreuse, a summer's dawn in 1998. After we'd enjoyed the view and the warmth of the sun for a bit, we picked up fresh goat's cheese from the farmhouse near the summit, raced back down to the tent - stopping only for warm, fresh baguettes on the way - and scoffed the lot. Days don't start any better than that.
