Surly Long Haul Trucker

Surly Long Haul Trucker

Surly Long Haul Trucker

Well... it's only just finished, and as yet I've no real plans for a big tour, so it remains to be seen when it'll be used in anger - but here is the replacement for the R600...

The geometry was supposed to be pretty similar to the Cross-Check, but when it fell out of the box it was immediately apparent that Surly's idea of "centre to top" measurement is to the top of the top tube, not the seat tube. Which is novel, but hey. It's a bit longer, and a fair bit taller at the front. Seems to fit pretty well, though.

It all started with the hubs, which were bought off eBay long ago, and since then most of the other stuff has come via eBay or similar routes, although the only real secondhand bits on there are the shifters.

So, not much to report yet. But it's got stacks of potential...
