If you're reading this website, there's a pretty good chance that you have a healthy interest in mountain bikes, and possibly a casual relationship with a camera of some sort as well. In which case, this may be of interest: MTBPhoto. I'm currently writing the code for it, and with a bit of luck it should be online in the next week or two.
So what is it? Well, essentially it's a format which is shamelessly stolen from the old (in fact I think now defunct) 'Terracon,' a contest for Terragen users. I entered it once, years ago, but to be honest there's only so much fun you can have with virtual landscapes - nice enough though they are - so this is an attempt to take the same format out of the relatively tragic domain of artificial terrain and into the much more healthy Real World.
Essentially, the contest rolls forward on a monthly cycle. During each month, users will be entering the next contest, voting on the current one, and viewing the results of the previous one. Everyone who enters can submit one photo, the voting is entirely anonymous, and points don't make prizes. It's just for fun.
If you're interested in being one of the first to know when MTBPhoto is up and running, either drop me an email via the 'contact me' link to the left (best put 'MTBPhoto' in the subject), or post a comment here with a valid email address and checking the "receive replies" box.
In the meantime, any feedback or suggestions are welcome - thanks.
